The scene was emblematic of an administration increasingly detached from economic reality. As the S&P 500 plummeted nearly 10% from its highs and recession fears mounted, there stood the President of the United States, car brochure in hand, pitching Tesla’s product line like a commissioned salesman. “Who else but this guy would design this?” Trump gushed over Elon Musk’s Cybertruck, seemingly oblivious to the financial anxiety gripping millions of Americans.
