When Donald J. Trump slithered into office after defeating Hillary Clinton, I didn’t just have “concerns” — I had full-blown existential dread about both him and the cognitive abilities of those who checked his name on a ballot. After January 6th and the “big lie” (yes, the actual big lie, not the fairy tale version your Facebook groups promote) that the election was stolen, words failed me. I was beyond disgusted and naively believed — clearly giving humanity far too much credit — that would be the last we’d see of this spray-tanned charlatan. His mountain of crimes should have disqualified him, not to mention all those spineless Republicans who swore “never again” while clutching their copies of the Constitution. Many of these people I foolishly believed had repaired their broken moral compasses. Silly, delusional me.
