Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s assault on sexual violence prevention represents one of the most reckless and ideologically driven attacks on evidence-based public health in modern American history. Since becoming Health Secretary in February 2025, Kennedy has systematically dismantled decades of carefully constructed federal infrastructure designed to protect women from sexual violence, all while claiming to champion transparency and health.

The cruelty began on April 1, 2025—the first day of Sexual Assault Awareness Month—when Kennedy's Department of Health and Human Services fired most of the staff from the Division of Violence Prevention at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The timing was not coincidental. Matthew Huffman of the Missouri Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence called it "a combination of heartbreaking and insulting," but Kennedy's actions suggest something far worse: a deliberate contempt for the women these programs were designed to protect.
