People ask me a lot of questions, but the most consistent one I get—outside of specifics about particular articles—is how I've built such impressive reader statistics. What courses did I take? What's my strategy?
Here it is:
First, I've been writing consistently online since 2006. There was no overnight success. This is nearly two decades of showing up, learning, and refining my craft.
I diversify my platforms. I use LinkedIn, Substack, Medium, Facebook, and Instagram. Each platform has its own audience and rhythm, and I adapt my content accordingly while maintaining my voice across all of them.
I write fresh content and do my research. Every piece I publish has thought and investigation behind it. Readers can tell when you're phoning it in versus when you've done the work.
I engage with my readers. If you don't want to engage with the people who are spending their time on your work, don't expect a loyal readership. And yes, engage with the naysayers too—you can disagree in a civil fashion…
