In the grand tradition of Trumpian political irony that would have Mark Twain reaching for his pen with glee, I laughed out loud when I read about Oklahoma’s crusading-Christian superintendent of public instruction who has provided the best serving of schadenfreude since Anthony Weiner’s found a keyboard and a modem.

Ryan Walters — a man so committed to purging the corrupting influence of literature from school libraries that he’s practically channeling Cotton Mather — found himself in rather a pickle last Thursday when his office television decided to stage its own little screening of S E X during an executive session of the State Board of Education. The screen, apparently unmoved by Walters’ previous sermons about the evils of “pornography” in schools, chose that precise moment to showcase what board member Becky Carson delicately described as “naked women” (though I bet dollars to doughnuts she said “neck-ed”)prancing across the monitor like HBO After Dark.
