As horrible as Donald Trump is, we must come to grips that he is a symptom of something rotten here in the US. The attacks on science, culture, education, and decorum are now somehow replacing the likes of Jonas Salk and Emily Post.

In a land where we once revered Churchills and Roosevelts, we now genuflect before a man who made contestants eat hissing Madagascar cockroaches for a shot at $50,000.

America has always adored its carnival barkers. We're suckers for snake oil when it comes in a shiny new bottle. But our latest obsession — Joe Rogan, the bald Buddha of bro culture — stretches credulity even for a nation that elected a reality TV star to the Oval Office.

Rogan, the taekwondo titan turned bug-eating-contest impresario, has somehow morphed into our national oracle. With his blend of locker room philosophy and DMT revelations, he's become the thinking man's non-thinker, a human Reddit thread come to life.
