The Trump administration's announcement Friday that it will eliminate the Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Research and Development represents nothing short of an environmental catastrophe in the making. By firing over 3,700 EPA employees—including up to 1,155 scientists—and gutting the agency's research capabilities, this administration has declared war on the scientific expertise that has protected American families from environmental hazards for generations. This isn't governance; it's vandalism. Administrator Lee Zeldin's gleeful proclamation that he was "driving a dagger straight into the heart of the climate change religion" reveals the administration's true agenda: dismantling environmental protections to benefit polluting industries at the expense of public health.
